  • August Appraiser of the Month: Daniel Brandlin

    About Daniel:

I started in the appraisal field when I was 16 working in my father’s appraisal office and have been working in the industry ever since. With my Dad being in the industry for over 30 years he always offers great advice on any problem files I may come across.  In my early career I became very interested in green building so I ended up working in the residential green building construction management field for 5 years while still appraising. The knowledge from the construction industry helped immensely in my appraisal practice. With the amount of homes with solar systems installed in my local market, it helps to have installed and designed over 300 systems when it comes to valuing the properties with solar.

Who is your biggest inspiration in life and why?

My wife, she is the glue that keeps my business together, from scheduling appointments, updating clients, accounting and most importantly finding the time to do this while raising our two rambunctious toddlers.

If you could have any superpower, what would you choose and why?

Breathe underwater. I do a lot of spearfishing and lobster diving so being able to breathe underwater would be a plus.

Where is your favorite spot in the world?

Bahia Santa Maria, Baja California, It’s a small bay south of San Felipe that is a great place to unplug

Name something on your bucket list.

A road trip down the Baja peninsula and back. Traveling from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, going down on the Pacific side and coming back via the Sea of Cortez side.

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?

With two toddlers, when I am not working I tend to spend the majority of my free time chasing after them.
